Ray Family Farms began in 2019 by owner and operator, Jason Ray. In an effort to heal after major surgery, he began to alter his eating habits and how to heal his body with food. This is where he discovered microgreens. Easy to grow, high in nutrients, and unlimited varieties, Jason began growing microgreens for himself, family, and friends. Not being able to find another local grower, Ray Family Farms was formed to specialize in growing living microgreens. Our farm is proud to provide the Des Moines communities with fresh, local, and delicious microgreens year round.
Located in Iowa, our farm looks different than the average. We grow our microgreens vertically, indoors in a hydroponic system. These methods allow us to utilize as much of our growing space as possible. Our favorite quality? Because we farm indoors, we offer fresh microgreens to our community through all four seasons.
At Ray Family Farms we believe in quality and sustainability. To us, this means growing our microgreens using organic methods. No chemicals, toxins, or harmful pesticides. Our carefully selected non-GMO seeds are planted on 100% biodegradable hemp mats. We use a four stage water filtration system to ensure the removal of various contaminants. We believe quality practices produce quality microgreens.
